01

About these terms

These terms apply to your use of the Solar Brook Valley website. By using the site you accept them. If you do not, please do not use it; nothing here limits any right that the law gives you as a consumer.

02

What this website is

The site introduces our work (roof surveys, planning of rooftop solar systems and home batteries, and help with the related paperwork) and publishes general notes about solar in Japan. It is not an online shop. You cannot buy anything on it, and nothing on it creates a contract between you and us.

03

Estimates, quotes and contracts

Figures in our notes, FAQ and answers are general or illustrative. An estimate of output or savings for a particular property is only that, an estimate with written assumptions. Only a written quote that we have issued and you have accepted in writing is binding, and it prevails over anything on this website. Details that Japanese law asks us to state for paid work are in the commercial notice.

04

No guarantee of output or savings

Solar output depends on the weather, shading, the condition and age of the equipment, the way the system is used and the tariff you are on. We do not promise a level of output, a saving on your electricity bill, a return or a payback period, and nothing on this site should be read as one.

05

General information, not professional advice

The notes explain FIT, grid connection, subsidies and equipment in general terms and may be out of date. Rates, subsidy programmes and rules change by fiscal year and differ by prefecture and municipality. Before you decide, check the official sources, for example the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, your power company and your local government, and treat our notes as a starting point. They are not legal, tax or engineering advice.

06

Electrical work and qualifications

Electrical work on a solar system is regulated and has to be performed by suitably qualified people. This website does not state licence or registration numbers. The written quote for a project names the contractor and the registrations that apply, and you are welcome to ask for them before you sign.

07

Contacting us

The forms open a draft in your email program, and we receive a message only when you send it. We aim to reply within two business days, but that is a target, not a commitment, and a message without a reply has not created an agreement of any kind. Please do not rely on email alone for anything urgent, such as damage to a roof or a fault in a live system; contact a qualified electrician or your power company.

08

Photographs and text

The text on this website belongs to Solar Brook Valley, and you may read and link to it. Please do not copy it onto other sites without asking. The photographs are illustrative images of solar installations in general; they are not pictures of our completed projects unless a caption says so.

09

Links to other websites

Where we link to other websites, we do so for information only. Their content and their terms are their operators' responsibility.

10

Using the website properly

Please do not use the site in a way that damages it or hinders other visitors, do not try to gain access to anything that is not public, and do not send us material that is unlawful or that belongs to someone else.

11

Responsibility

We try to keep the site correct, but a change can take a while to appear. To the extent the law allows, Solar Brook Valley is not liable for losses that arise from using this website or from relying on the general information in it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Japanese law, including under the Consumer Contract Act.

12

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms from time to time. The current version is always at this address, with its date at the top, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised text.

13

Governing law and courts

Japanese law governs these terms and the use of this website. For disputes about the website that cannot be settled between us, the court with jurisdiction over Marugame (the Marugame Summary Court or the Marugame Branch of the Takamatsu District Court, as the amount in dispute requires) is the court of first instance, to the extent the law allows.
